Dead Sullivan self – released his sophomore LP called Season this past July, but it has made a new appearance in the form of a cassette for the first time via a collaboration from Richmond/Brooklyn label Citrus City Records and Dallas’s Peach Bloom Records released at the end this past May.
The solo project of Denton (TX) – based multi-instrumentalist Boone Patrello, Dead Sullivan is music for those quiet moments for when you just want to escape or be by yourself somewhere. Season follows up his 2015 EP Reason and his 2017 effort Imbecile and is a continuation of a thoughtful, introspective style. Patrello creates these little worlds in each song that engulf your attention. While some of the songs only run about over a minute, your mind starts to wander, and it feels like it’s really a ten-minute song instead.
Dead Sullivan has a reminiscent air to that of Frankie Cosmos or Florist. In the way that there is a certain consistency to them and a quiet, but confident presence which can be the most impactful feeling.
