Guest Artist Playlist // Honey Lung

By August 16, 2019Uncategorized

London outfit Honey Lung is a band that are one not to miss. The band recently released a new single called “Nothing”, a bold, engaging track about confronting uncertainty and self-doubt. “Nothing” follows up the band’s EP Memory, which dropped in early February of this year via Kanine Records.

Watch their music video for “Nothing” here and check out their playlist below.

“Bug” by Sandy (Alex G) – This song is so important to each of us in the band for different reasons, it’s one we always play once every road trip. When Jamie first started hanging out with Dave at the dingy venue he used to work at, he showed him this track and that’s when their musical similarities started showing.

“Get Away” by Yuck – Yuck are one of those bands that we all adored in high school, and this track in particular just really captures that positive nostalgia for us. We’ve been lucky enough to work with Max Bloom from Yuck on two of our singles, and Omri even got to fill in as their drummer on tour.

“Withered Hand” by The Oh Sees – This is just pure energy for us. We play this multiple times when touring on the road. At SXSW, we saw them two or three times, there’s even a video of Jamie crowdsurfing to this track on YouTube!

“Watch The Corners” by Dinosaur Jr – This band has influenced us in so many ways, but this particular track really resonates with us as a band. The guitar work alongside such an incredible vocal melody just makes it one of the all-time greats.

“Snail” by The Smashing Pumpkins – We always joke in the band that everyone always says that we sound like The Smashing Pumpkins, which is a fantastic compliment, but we don’t really hear too many similarities haha. That being said, we all love them, this song in particular has some of the best drumming ever.

“Cathedral” by Hovvdy – Seeing these guys at SXSW had an insanely positive effect on us. We got to chat to them afterwards and it was one of the highlights of our entire trip. They’ve put out so much beautiful music, but this has just come out and it’s awesome.

“Woe On Me” by Beck – This particular Beck album is an underrated masterpiece, there’s something to be said about being able to create something as lovely as this with just an acoustic guitar.

“Not If You Were The Last Junkie On Earth” by The Dandy Warhols – These guys just oozed cool, and this song really embellishes that ease. We love it, and we love doing our lame impressions of Anton Newcombe whenever possible.
