Artist: Geowulf
Album: Great Big Blue (Feb. 2018)
Track: “Sunday”

London-based Aussie duo Geowulf released their debut album, Great Big Blue, this past February on independent label 37 Adventures. The 11-track project is packed with summertime indie-pop tunes, but it’s the album’s opener that caught our ear.

From the opening seconds of the track, “Sunday” reels in the listener to the slightly melancholic dreamstate that Geowulf creates throughout the album. Vocalist Star Kendrick opens the door to the duo’s world, enchantingly crooning “Welcome to my Sunday,” on the hook, while instrumentalist Toma layers reverb-drenched guitar riffs. Reminiscent of 2010’s standout chillwave artists Wild Nothing and Washed Out, while sharing sunny qualities with the likes of Real Estate and Alvvays, Geowulf crafts a picture of summer on this breezy track.

Geowulf is set to perform at a couple festivals around the UK this May – check out their bandcamp page for those dates and to hear more from the duo follow them here
