Roz Raskin is no stranger to the world of pop music since she began Roz and The Rice Cakes back in 2008 and being involved in other various projects, but now is forging a new path with a new solo endeavor under the name of Nova One. Raskin delivered an impressive introduction with the first two singles “your girl” and “if you were mine” with their charming, dreamy soundscapes and rare intimacy, which are also tied into the new single from the forthcoming album Secret Princess called “where you are”.

The song has a swinging, foot-tapping style to it and melts into your ears with its consistently infectious sound. While the swirling, melodic vocals bounce off the snappy, playful arrangements, Roz delivers an important perspective in the track that mirrors the overall theme of the EP.

Raskin said “‘where you are” is about the experience of being a femme presenting person walking in a world of toxic masculinity.” The emotionally charged undertone hits in all the right places and you can feel the moment when she is completely over being in an enduring, redundant environment.
